UGLE DVD Casting

Introduction

We’ll be celebrating the 300th birthday of UGLE in 2017. This is an important milestone for Freemasonry and around which a new communication strategy has been planned – all in line with the overall mission of ‘building a positive reputation for Freemasonry in society today and ensuring its long term future.’

Key to ensuring this future is to encourage existing members to stay and new members to join and help shift many of the popular misconceptions and myths about Freemasonry that impact the support of wives and partners of the new and existing members and the wider population as a whole.

We have already successfully launched a new core leaflet – Freemasonry – What’s it all about?, we have also created a new website and a fresh and vibrant makeover for its quarterly magazine Freemasonry Today – all of which reflect the organisation’s new spirit of openness and its key values.

We now want to go one stage further and open a further window onto Freemasonry and all it has to offer, by producing an award winning video/DVD. The key themes to come out of the short film will be that being a Freemason is an enjoyable and rewarding pastime, that we are ordinary people from all walks of life, that the organisation does a lot of good and is one of the biggest charitable givers in the UK, and that it is open, transparent and relevant in society and always has played an important and valuable role within it.

The aim is that having watched this short 10 minute film, viewers will come away with a more positive impression and a real understanding of why people become Freemasons and the exciting opportunity it provides for potential members to learn, develop and experience life in a different and fulfilling way.

It will be used in a variety of ways – at talks, for individuals considering joining to watch at home on their own or with their partner, for wives and partners who want something more than the leaflet to give them an insight into what Freemasonry is all about.

It will to be inspiring, educational and uplifting – everything that Freemasonry is and always has been.
