It hardly seems that it was just over three years ago that the Wiltshire Freemason's Communication Team produced their first monthly newsletter, but the Newsletter page on the Provincial website now contains no less than 42 editions
When conceived, it was felt that a four page communication was more likely to be read by the membership than the conventional 28 page magazine format to be found in the bi-annual magazine Across the Plain. The publication style was based on it being simple to compile, and easy to read, and was published as with a front page carrying a message from the Provincial Grand Master, a back page 'devoid of sporting stories' but containing a regular calendar of Installation and special meetings, with notices of other events; and two centre pages with news and views.
According to the newsletter's editor, its success can be attributed to short punchy news items, interesting images and the fact that it can be read very quickly.
At the end of 2019, a decision was made to produce an audio version of the newsletter. Retired firefighter and local Freemason Andrew Hargreaves volunteered to narrate the newsletter and produce an Mp4 audio file which could be accessed through the website and via Lodge Secretaries. This innovation has proven to be very popular with a wide audience across the Province.
In May 2020, the team decided it was time for a re-branding and came up with In touch > On line as the new name for the monthly newsletter.
Provincial Grand Master Philip Bullock said: 'I'm always amazed at the ingenuity of the Communication Team and their keen desire to introduce new ideas to the Province. In touch > On line does exactly what it says in the title, and I'm pleased to note that many of our members are viewing the newsletter on line through the Provincial website.'
