It was a wonderful day for a stroll along the Thames Path for Berkshire Freemasons as the University Scheme Challenge arrived
On Saturday 4th September, a team of 15 brethren and friends took part in the Berkshire leg of the University Scheme 2021 Challenge. University Lodges from around the country are walking individual sections of a countrywide route totalling 2021 miles, in aid of the Duke of Edinburgh Memorial Fund through The David Kenneth Williamson Lodge No 9938.
The Province of Berkshire section was the 88th leg of the challenge walking a route which took the team from the Masonic Centre in Marlow finishing up at Berkshire Masonic Centre in Sindlesham. The team of 15 walkers from Grey Friars Lodge No. 1101, who are the representative lodge of the University Scheme for Berkshire and were supported on the walk by members of Reading Lodge of Union No. 414, Berkshire Light Blues Club, Provincial Membership Team and the Provincial Lodge Support Team along with a number of family friends, walked a total of 14.03 Miles in 5 hours.
On reaching the Berkshire Masonic Centre Sindlesham, the David Kenneth Williamson Challenge Cup was presented to the Provincial Grand Master for Berkshire Anthony Howlett-Bolton OBE by Allan Dishington from Grey Friars Lodge who also did the whole 14.03 mile journey in his kilt.
