Rock stars: Lincolnshire members brave the heat to build car park at Louth's new Freemasons' Hall

Louth’s Freemasons braved the recent heat to move and level tonnes of rock as a base for the car park at the new meeting centre they've built for themselves in the town

Head of Lincolnshire Freemasons Dave Wheeler said: 'These guys have every reason to call themselves rock stars. Moving and levelling all that stone was a tough enough task on its own; doing it on the hottest day of the year so far just added a degree of difficulty. However, their determination to get the job done is indicative of their commitment to the whole project, which will result in a superb facility once it’s complete.'

They are looking forward to being able to meet in the new venue, on Bolingbroke Road, once building work can be completed and Covid restrictions are lifted. The building project is being funded by the Freemasons themselves, and Covid has meant they’ve been unable to meet, bringing an abrupt halt to fundraising channels. They’re still looking for volunteers to buy a brick on the Founders’ Wall. Details of how to get involved are available from Ian Castledine at This email address is being protected from spambots.
