Nautical cable-tows

Monday, 11 July 2022

Brian Barton of Loyal Manor Lodge No. 6445 at Portland is supporting the Dorset Festival #25 in his own special way. Brian is a former Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy and is using his seafaring skills to produce custom-made nautical cable-tows for Lodges. The cable-tows are made from seaman’s knots with personalised Freemasonry significance. They are fully functional and perfect to adorn candidates for many years

To date Brian has made over four hundred individual nautical cable-tows which have been sent to Lodges around the globe. As a consequence, Loyal Manor Lodge has received glowing endorsements from Lodges, masonic museums and private collections, Lodges belonging to the Grand Lodge of England, the Grand Lodges of Ireland and Scotland, South and West Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.

The original version was finished using white rope, signifying purity and Innocence. However, at the request of Lodges most cable-tows are now adorned with regiment, unit, university, school and Lodge banner colours. They come complete with an explanation certificate and presentation pack, making it a great gift.

Brian will gladly make you a presentation nautical cable-tow, unique to your Lodge in return for a donation to the Masonic Charitable Foundation Charity.
