Lincolnshire moves Festival goalposts, but believes £2.25m aspiration is still achievable

Thursday, 13 May 2021

The pandemic cost us a year of Festival fundraising potential, but throughout that the need for our help never went away – instead it intensified, with charities’ income streams being reduced to a trickle, where they still existed at all, writes Festival Chairman Jez Hyland

But now that the light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter, it’s the time to reignite the #Lincs2025 Festival because there are still Freemasons, their families, and many in the wider community that need our support in these difficult times.

To recognise the lost opportunities of the ‘ghost year’ of 2020 we have decided to reduce every Lodge’s aspirational goal by 20% – even though the MCF hasn’t changed the £2.25m figure we were given pre-pandemic, and we intend to stage our Festival Finale in September 2025.

Quite simply, we didn’t want any Lodge to be put off by feeling the members were faced with raising an unrealistic sum. However, with a concerted effort from us all, we believe that the £2.25m is still within our grasp.

The foundations of every Festival are Regular Payment Promises (RPP) by direct debit, and we have agreed with the MCF that these promises, while receiving 100% credit for the Festival the Lodge and the individual’s honorifics from inception, can continue until September 2026. This therefore means that up to September this year Brethren can still commit to a five-year RPP, spreading the cost a year beyond the Festival Finale date.

A new ‘Fundraising Support Team’ to help individuals or groups with marketing and merchandise for their events has been set up under the Chairmanship of Andy Ham. Contact details for fundraisers and further information can be found on the member’s portal of the Provincial website using the link ‘Festival and Charities’.

If you have not been too adversely affected financially from the pandemic, we appeal to you set up a RPP so that Freemasons, their families and the wider community can benefit after falling on hard times. Single or regular donations can also be made using the QR codes below. To those 500 Brethren who have already set up a RPP, thank you. If you wish to extend your help and assistance to September 2026 this is easily achieved. Email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. We’re all hoping we can commence meeting again soon but if you can help now, your pledges will immediately be put to very good use. Making a pledge could hardly be easier. We intend to produce business cards bearing QR codes and text numbers to make regular and or one-off payments simple. We'll give these to ourt charity stewards to support them in their efforts to engage with members,
