The 42 families at West Malling’s Junior park run were thrilled to receive a cheque for £500 from Malling Abbey Lodge and The Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons Charity on their 4th birthday on 13th October 2019
Manor Park junior park run is held every Sunday at 9am come rain or shine. An average of 50 children run and 15 volunteers support the 2K long run every week through the beautiful country park. It is entirely free to take part, and the event often has celebratory events for birthdays and guest takeovers, where local running clubs and other sports, volunteer and offer extra activities.
The cheque was generously gifted to help the parkrun pay for a gazebo, walkie talkies and other equipment needed to make the event even safer and more enjoyable for its runners and volunteers.
Event Director Laura Taylor said: 'We have built such a wonderful parkrun family over the last four years. It is thanks to this incredible community spirit that we have been able to host 199 park runs, and almost 1,300 different children have been able to take part so far.
'We are so grateful for this donation from the Freemasons – it has already enabled us to buy an essential kit to make our park run even better.'
