Durham Freemasons on hand to gift TLC Teddies to New Year babies

Sunderlands first New Year Baby received a little more TLC than usual

New mum Chrystal Edwards' first baby was also the Sunderland’s Maternity Wards first of 2018. Delivered just before 6.30am on New Year’s Day, baby Masie-Lea Edwards weighed in at a healthy 7lb 4oz.

Simon Craig Steele, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Sunderland Royal Hospital, had been on duty over the New Year period, and decided in his capacity as Assistant Provincial Grand Master of Durham to hand out TLC Teddies to the New Year baby arrivals.

This coincided with the significant expansion of the use of TLC Teddies to comfort distressed children during treatment in NHS Hospitals in the Province of Durham.

Proud mum Crystal and grandmother Teresa were delighted to receive Masie-Lea’s very first teddy bear from Craig, on behalf of Durham Freemasons.
