Courtland Freemasons Lodge score with the under 13’s Football Team
The Galmpton Under 13’s football team who meet at the Galmpton Memorial Ground their home pitch, were in desperate need of replacement kits. One of their players Harry Chillcott’s father Chris, heard of their plight and contacted the lodge he is a member of and requested their help, without hesitation Courtland Masonic Lodge who meet in Paignton raised £575 which was enough to supply 15 sets of kit and also add 2 kits for their coaches.
On the first outing in their new kit Galmpton Under 13's FC played against Paignton Villa FC under 13’s and won 24-0, is this a sign of things to come now they are wearing their new kit, although to be fair they are already top of their league.
Harry is on the front row, third in from the right.
The presentation was carried out by Dennis Huxley, Phil Greenway and Chris Chillcott who ended up running the line as a linesman
Greenway Road – probably named after one of Phil’s ancestors.
The opponents on 06.03.22 were Paignton Villa FC U13s, in a league match. The weather was bitterly cold and very windy – hot drinks and bacon rolls were plentiful. For the first half, the team played up the pitch slope into a strong wind and by half time led by a slender 7-0. They increased the pressure in the second half and ran out 24-0 victors.
The team have already won their league with matches still to play, so far not dropping a single point and have already reached the quarter finals of the County Cup.
The team’s management are Matt Billingham and Martyn Byrne – they have been excellent throughout with their coaching and drilled into the young lads to be ruthless when playing although always respectful of their opponents, which they are.
