Cheshire Freemason has success with flyers to help people self isolating

Wednesday, 29 April 2020

81-year-old Mike Faulkner, of Affinity Lodge No. 4872 in CHESHIRE, has had great success with a 'HELLO' flyer that was published out to members for them to print and distribute as they saw fit in their community to help people who are self isolating during the coronavirus crisis

Mike, who has been a Freemason for 58 years, printed out the flyer at home and with his partner Maggie, distributed it to all the apartments at his retirement village, which asks if people need help picking up shopping, posting mail, urgent supplies or a friendly phone call.

The response he obtained was more than expected - 'The amazing results have kept us both busy and we have had some lovely ‘thank you for caring’ phone calls,' he said.

The majority of the requests that Mike and Maggie have dealt with relate to essential food shopping and medications that other residents cannot get out for.

The retirement village in Northwich allows its residents to live independently in private, self contained apartments which benefit from communal facilities where there is always something going on. Such is the community spirit on the development that Mike feels that once the Covid-19 emergency has been resolved he and Maggie are going to organise a ‘street party’ for the residents, carers, friends and local NHS staff.
