Cambridgeshire Freemasons help Newmarket Scout Group

Thursday, 20 May 2021

St. Wendred Lodge, which meets at Newmarket Masonic Hall, were thrilled to present a cheque for £700 to the 1st Newmarket Scout Group during a recent meeting at their headquarters

The presentation was long overdue as the lockdowns and Covid-19 restrictions had previously prevented a visit. The money was raised by St Wendred Lodge through various raffles and a virtual quiz night.

Jun Thompson, the Group Scout Leader, said: 'Many thanks to St Wendred Lodge for this generous donation. It will be used to buy equipment to support the group's activities, and this includes the purchase of an event shelter, barbeque and new maps and compasses.'

Paul Pearson, Master of the Lodge, said: 'We are delighted to be able to give our support to the 1st Newmarket Scout Group. It is always important to us to support our local community.'
