Following the recent 100 initiations at Freemasons Hall by the Province of Buckinghamshire, a few senior members within the Province thought that Suffolk might be able to somehow emulate that fantastic achievement. After discussion we realised that doing something on such a scale was impossible due to the size constraints of our various Masonic Centres across the Province, but we were certain that something could be achieved
So it was on Wednesday 3rd November 2021 at Ashlar House in Bury St. Edmunds that Stowmarket based Phoenix Lodge No. 516; Priory Lodge No. 4618 from Sudbury and Bury St. Edmunds based Magna Carta Lodge No. 8017 held simultaneous meetings to initiate three candidates, all who had been waiting very patiently due to the pandemic meeting restrictions. The three Lodges were approached during the late summer and all readily agreed to participate, each sharing the various planning aspects between them together with the assistance of the Ashlar House team.
The organisation of a triple meeting was quite a task and we can only imagine the amount of work carried out by Buckinghamshire to arrange an incredible 100 initiations at Freemasons Hall. On the night each Lodge held their own Ceremony of Initiation in the three separate lodge rooms at Ashlar House, attended by our Past Grand Master Ian Yeldham, Deputy Provincial Grand Master Tim McCormick and Provincial Senior Grand Warden Geoff Spencer respectively, with everyone coming together afterwards for a joint Festive Board, overseen by our Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies Chris Warnes, which was much enjoyed by over 100 members and guests. A fabulous night and a warm welcome to David Warburton of Magna Carta, Jon Nottage of Priory and Terry Urbanowicz of Phoenix. We hope you enjoyed your first taste of being Suffolk Freemasons.
