Wiltshire Freemasons deliver food boxes to vulnerable members

After a successful trial to other Lodges in the area and the Masonic Widows Association, Corsham Lodge No. 6616 in Wiltshire have expanded their home food pack deliveries to anyone in the area who is self isolating or is unable to shop

Local Freemasons John Deane and Tom Snell had been putting the food packs together at the Masonic Hall in Pickwick and distributing to Lodge members who do not feel they are able to leave their homes to go to a store due to the cornavirus outbreak.

John Deane said: 'Over the last three weeks the Almoner, Charity Steward and Secretary have contacted all their members, by phone, to see if they are OK, and most importantly, safe and whether they need any help.

'The overall response has been very good, and although many have a network of family or friends that are supporting them, there are members who are on their own and do not want to leave their homes, so the Food Pack idea was born.'

However, the initiative has been such a success that they have now expanded it to cover anyone in the area.

Deliveries are made every Friday with the boxes containing, amongst other things, fresh vegetables, fruit, bread and eggs.
