When the Province of East Lancashire’s Internet Lodge held a meeting at the Masonic Hall at Cheshire Views, in its neighbouring Province of Cheshire in August, a unique event took place. The toast to absent Brethren, proposed by the Canadian Master Alan Tibbets, was transmitted from Cheshire via a private video link through the lodge’s website. The 200-plus members of the lodge in 34 countries who were unable to attend the meeting had the opportunity to take part in the proceedings.
The response to the toast was given by David Holder from Sydney, Australia. It was again transmitted live, not only to the brethren watching from different countries, but also projected on to a large screen in the dining room at Cheshire Views.
