For those with a more down to earth interest in a Freemason’s life, guided and guarded by Providence, I can do no more than to recommend acquaintance with this stirring vernacular autobiography. The Rev Dudley Fox is a star, far eclipsing the light of those whom our debased culture has come to irradiate with ersatz stellar properties.
Born in 1917 in Dingwall, Rev Fox entered the mines as a boy, joined the Royal Corps of Signals at 18, became an officer, serving in the Sino-Japanese War and World War II, was appointed District Officer of Sandakan (now Sabah) in 1964 and was ordained into the Church of Scotland in 1972. That’s the outline of a CV, the life is, as they say, ‘something else’. This man regards everything that happened to him as a gift, so, as a man, he has prospered. He has simplicity of insight, direct and inspiring, and a hunger for life’s experience, however dangerous, because he believes in himself and in the wisdom of his Creator. Excellent for masons young and old.
